"So! That is Qatari's girlfriend?" Mom asked,turning on the faucet in the kitchen zinc,washing her hands

"Yes,that is her" I replied,looking around to ensure none of my brothers is within earshot,I moved closer to mom and whispered into my ears

"She's a bitch mom"

Mom turned to look at me,confused

"What's that?what's a bitch?"

I smiled,whispering again

"She sleeps around in school,not only that,she's in a hot dalliance with the HOD of her department" nodding my head with a pout in a gossipy manner,mom's hands went static In shock,her jaws falling to the grounds

"You knew this and were gushing over how pretty she looks and supporting her romance with your brother? Majeed?...." She expressed disappointedly,I opened my mouth to talk but she held her hand up for me to shut it,continuing


"Hold on first...how did you know all this?do you have proof?" She demanded

"Yes mother! I have proof,it's in my phone,pictures and videos of her romancing men...in their car mom...outside" I affirmed

"Oh lord,Maj,where did you get those?were u trailing after her everywhere she goes?" She asked alarmed,before I could answer her,QT came in,asking what we were up to,saying they were waiting for us to start eating and mosun would still be going home that evening,mom shook off water off of her hands,patted her hands dry with the kitchen towel and gestured at me for us to move on to the dining table

Mom cleared her throat as we all settled around the table,she said a general prayer and we all started digging in,cutlery and ceramic plates clanging and soon afterwards forkfulls of food were being shoved into the mouth, mosun clearly was enjoying the meal,nodding intermittently,totally savouring her food,masticating on her piece of meat in a way that made me want to slap the smug off her face, I ate slowly,taking my time to really size her up,QT looked steely at me,a look that says "don't start",

I returned the look with a fake smile,he was looking really tensed not knowing what I'd discussed with mom and how she might react now,mom dropped her cutlery,took few sips of water,cleared her throat,saying

"So my dear..erm mosun! Tell me more about you,I really want to get to know you and find out why my son fell for you...aside your pretty looks anyway", Everyone laughed

"That's a good way to start mom" I thought,smiling inwardly

"Well ma'am, am not sure what attracted Qatari to me " she said smiling,wiping the edges of her mouth with a serviette, "but I believe am a cool headed girl who's passionate about what I do,my studies and I can't say about QT but I love him and want the best for him" she said,sharing loving glances with QT


"Hmmmn" mom went! QT beaming with smiles,momentarily holding hands with mosun then she took her cup of water to take a drink

"What's your take on fidelity and you know,aristo babes who shag with lecturers.."
I fired at her,she choked on her drink as I talked on,continuing.. "And heads of department",

QT eyes rounded in on me angrily,Hamz tried to stifle a laugh,bowing and covering his mouth,Karl looking at me from the corner of his eyes with a wry smile

Stammering,she stuttered "I..ah..erm..am not sure why you're asking me such a question" she said,getting flushed with embarrassment,QT quickly cuts in, trying to subdue the angry tone in his voice

"ERM! Maj...please...this isn't an interview about the proliferation of moral decadence among today's youth" he fired,mom and Hamz snickered...he rapped on..."Just fucking zip it"


"I was just getting to know mosun na...what's bad trying to get her opinion on the subject" I defended myself


"Majeed...that's a little inappropriate" mom chipped in

"Um! Its ok everyone,I..er totally have this under control" she gushed

"Thank you..thank you mosun dear..you see that everyone? She has it all under control" I announced to everyone with a tone of sarcasm I expect she should sense

"I believe women should view their bodies as temples before God.." She started,I nodded approvingly but sighing sarcastically as I sensed all she's about to spew were bullshits PR for herself

"I really don't subscribe to the culture of dating married men or sleeping around" I pretended to cough at that moment,Hamz coughed out his laugh,quickly clearing his throat and pulling himself together and even QT bowed down,stifling his giggle while mom, ever the amazon,looked on with a poker face expression



Mosun looked around,wondering why we were all acting funny,sharing furtive glances, muffled giggles and pretense coughs,she moved uncomfortably on her sit, mom cleared her throat and said it was all fine,but I wasn't having any of that,I stood up,excused myself and moved towards the sitting room to pick my phone which I was charging and show everyone..especially mom the obscene photos and video,I knew QT would know what I was going for but he looked calm,I thought he ought to come after me and maybe beg me to not humiliate the girl and leave the issue for him to deal with.

On picking my phone,I smelt a rat,I quickly punched in the password to my phone and went straight to pictures...Nothing...Gosh!...I quickly navigated to videos....Fiam! Gone,I looked up angrily at QT,he winked at me,Karl and Hamz smiled...it all became clear now,while I was in the kitchen with mom,QT took my phone,entered in the password and deleted the pictures and video of mosun,but only one person knows the password to my phone aside me and that's Hamz and this was because while I was sick and too weak to even punch the buttons on my phone,he was the one whom I gave instructions to do all my typing for me hence knowing my password..but I'd promised myself to change it,but forgot...trust me,there are skeletons in my cupboard I wouldn't want anyone to see and now,I wasn't so sure what they've seen or not,lol


I was livid with anger now,I marched on with a thumping gait towards the dining room,took a look at everyone and mosun and blurted out

"Mosun darling...I have nothing against you" I started,QT winking rapidly for me to keep shut but I couldn't even stop myself now,the words kept flying off my lips

"But you can't date my brother..you know why?cause you are a whore,you're famous in school,that's why...I had evidence,proof of your philandering ways on my phone but obviously,my brothers conspired to hide your shame for you by deleting the pictures and video" I had this sudden relief,like a load taken off me as I finished,mom looked up at me

"What video and picture?" Mom asked,QT's face was the look of thunder right now,Karl's face looking ashen with disappointment,Hamz hissed


"Well...em! Its a video of mosun and her lovers" I spurted,looking downwards,continuing "and its an open secret in school that she's in a relationship with her HOD" I rapped,mosun shook her head vigorously,whimpering

"SHUT UP MAJ,THAT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" Karl bellowed

Mosun took her purse and ran out of the house,QT's veins pulsating and stretching,I knew I was in trouble and as he made a dash at me,I quickly ran behind mom,screaming and kicking,mom commanded QT to move back,both of us panting and breathing noisily

"MOM...YOU KEEP SHIELDING HIM...PROTECTING HIM...YOU'VE SPOILT HIM" he roared,totally eager to lay his hands on me and deal me with some deadly blows...I wanted to laugh but I'd better now,I thought

"Calm down Qatari...calm down "mom tried to placate him,her hands outstretched in defence of me "but why would you be angry over that kind of girl? Huh?a prostitute...Qatari,is that what you want to be with? of all the girls in this world" she said

"MOM...MOM..SEE,LET ME KILL THIS BOY,IT IS NOT HIS BUSINESS TO INTERFARE IN MY RELATIONSHIPS" QT fumed

"Kill your brother ehn Qatari? You'd better watch your language lest the devil takes you on it,shut up and get out of my sight now...if am truly your mother...who carried you in my womb for 9 months and breastfed you,now get out and you must'nt touch him" she commanded

"Mom...you keep spoiling Maj...what he did is wrong na" Hamz voice zapped us from our rear,we'd totally forgotten he was there,Karl also chipped in saying it wasn't my place to break them up,before I could start feeling guilty,I threw my hands up in protest,trying to justify what I did

"I never went digging anyone's dirt,people knew am QT's brother and they felt they needed to remind me she's a whore incase I've forgotten and they went through the stress of finding proof for me" I defended myself

"Who are these people ehn! Who? They are just busy bodies Maj,I know all my sons' personality and I know you aren't like that Maj" she said,turning to look at me and hold me by my shoulders

"Mom..I did nothing wrong,I thought doing this,QT would be happy with me for saving his face in school and I can't believe....I can't believe even this...this stupid Hamza is siding with QT,Hamz that I always defended,helped,never judging him" I seethed,turning to Karl,

"...and you too Karl? You think I'd want to intentionally break up his relationship without good intentions?...no big deal" I heaved a sigh,fighting back tears which glassily blurred my eyes ,everyone went quiet,thinking about what I'd said,but QT insisted it wasn't my place to do the breaking up for him,I told him I agree and it was my bad getting involved,I walked off from the dining area,leaving everyone standing.

By morning,I was still sulking...but my brothers couldn't stay mad at me for long and mom had had a lengthy discussion with them the night before. As we quietly had breakfast,Karl,QT and Hamz passed on short,handwritten notes of apologies to me,I smiled and mom shook her head,smiling,my anger towards them dissolving with each inch of my grin spreading across my face,finishing off their meal QT hollered

"GUYS LET'S PLAY SOME FOOTBALL NOW SHALL WE!" Karl and Hamz howled excitedly,I was surprised QT was taking his breakup with mosun well...am guessing they are done...my battling eyelashes flapping repeatedly

"What stupid football?" I retorted...everyone laughed,mom looking pleased,seeing us bond,she shook her head,muttering under her breath as she took sips of tea
